Drums are the New Grey. Introducing 50 Shades of Drums

You know that drum parts of that song Madder Red by Yeysayer? Its erotic. But for real. Whats all this 50 shades of grey business? I feel like I should read it, but I am so not into erotic lit. This story has the tempting qualities of Beastly, mixed with the press of Twilight, and the fan base of Harry Potter (albeit the horny house wife equivalent).

I wished people got this excited about all books. It shouldn’t just be the books that have some ”taboo” backdrop that gets people to read. people should read because reading is good for you. It makes ya smart, and it doesnt rot your brain (unless your reading anything by Stephanie Meyer (kidding…ish)).

It sucks. Good modern authors go unread. Great books and stories by classic authors go unread because some at your grade school said that you just need to read their “famous” stuff. Fuck that noise. I want all of Samuel Clemens or give me nothing at all.

To summarize what I am saying.

Fucking read people

Dont just read whats hot

Go adventure and find somethings tickles your eyelids until they burst with pleasure.

Erotic

Golfswag

Digable

Summer Reads 2011 End of the World Edition

1) (as always) Franny & Zooey - JD Salinger

2) Imperial Bedrooms - Bret Easton Ellis’

3) Jane Eyre - Charlotte Brontë

4) American Splendor - Harvey Pekar

5) Hey Wait - Jason

Now now I know there isnt any new books on the list. Thats because that is a whole different summer reads list. This is just a few book/graphic novels that are timeless to me.

Imperial Bedrooms

I loved it. Bret has been on of my favorite writers since I was 14. I know some people were weary in the idea of sequal to such a intitguing story (less than zero). However I must note the raw movement in this book allows it to stand on its own two legs and walk through you leaving a stained impression of the world around you. A great character study, and really something that will leave you thinking.
